Back when the NRL had the McIntyre Finals system, any team that managed to just scrape into the 'Top 8' had the enormous challenge of facing the minor premiers in the first week of finals and also face elimination if they couldn't grab the win.
2008 saw the Storm (1st) play at home to the Warriors (8th) in a game where not even Warriors fans gave them a chance to beat the title favourites.
Trailing by a point with only a couple of minutes left on the clock, the Warriors spread it wide to see what they could come up with.
A snappy line break from Jerome Ropati saw him flick the ball out further to Manu Vatuvei who somehow managed to charge even further down the field. As he's taken to ground 20m from the line, a beautiful offload to a ready and waiting Michael Witt saw him cross the line only to muck around for a few seconds and nearly not ground the ball!
A nervous finish but nonetheless famous win that Warriors fans will never forget!
