Steve Menzies ended his illustrious NRL career in style with the perfect farewell, scoring a memorable late try as Manly crushed Melbourne 40–0 in the 2008 grand final. The biggest winning margin in decider history.

Twelve years after helping the Sea Eagles to the 1996 title, Menzies and coach Des Hasler were the last remaining links to that premiership side, surrounded by several former teammates on the club’s staff.

With eight minutes remaining and the premiership already secured, Manly swept the ball left.

Menzies put Michael Robertson into space, and when the Storm defence closed in, Robertson flicked it back inside. Menzies stormed through to score, delivering one final trademark moment in his last NRL game.

It goes down as one of the most memorable moments in Manly history with it being even more iconic after the loss to the Storm a year earlier!

FT: Manly 40 Storm 0
