Freddy's farewell Origin try!

After answering Phil Gould’s SOS to return from rep retirement for Game Two, a then 32-year-old Brad Fittler walked into the perfect stage for his final Origin — and delivered a farewell moment for the ages.

NSW powered to an 18–6 halftime lead through debutant Mark Gasnier’s double and a Trent Barrett try, before Luke Rooney and Anthony Minichiello pushed the margin out beyond reach.

With the series secured and the crowd roaring, Fittler produced the fairy-tale finish: he charged down a Darren Lockyer kick, regathered, and stormed over under the posts, arm raised in triumph.

In his 31st and final Origin appearance, the Blues legend stamped the perfect exclamation mark on his career and sent the Blues surging into the 2005 series with unstoppable momentum.
